DEPARTURE STRATEGY
Departure strategy
Departure strategy for Hvidovre Production School
In accordance with the legislation on production schools, the school’s board shall prepare a strategy for the departure of the participants. The departure strategy must be open to the public on the school’s website. It also lies with the board to render the school’s general cooperation agreements, if any, and their experiences herewith in relation to the departure of participants open to the public on the School’s website.
Tools for a departure strategy
The school’s departure statistics must form part of the School’s strategic considerations regarding departure of participants. Each year, the school’s departure results are evaluated with a view to making necessary adjustments or taking new initiatives. The specific areas of initiatives, which the departure strategy gives rise to must be rendered visible in the school’s activity plan.
Elements of the departure strategy
The school’s range of workshops shall be evaluated in relation to the possibilities for the young people of getting a clarification during their stay at the school resulting in a successful development process for them and in relation to the possibilities in the society. A combination sequence with the vocational schools is an active part of that work.
Course plans
The plans for a young person’s stay at the school are the starting point for a qualified guidance and a successful departure from the school and must therefore be given high priority at each single workshop. The first interview in respect of the young person’s stay must take place within the first fortnight of the young person’s stay at the production school. At least every 3 months, it should be followed up with a new interview. If deemed necessary, the guidance counsellor should assist or take an independent interview with the young person. It is an objective always to have a conversation of departure between teacher and participant. As soon as possible and before the young person ends his stay at the school, the individual teacher informs the guidance counsellor of the end of the stay, etc. in order for the guidance counsellor to follow up on the departure of said participant.
Cooperation
The cooperation with the surrounding Youth Guidance Centres is of high priority and we work towards a formalized cooperation with the individual centres. A formal cooperation has been established with the close-by vocational schools, educational institutions and the Production School. We seek to establish formal agreements with the companies engaging in practical periods. We seek to further strengthen the cooperation with the local authorities.
